Community Service Opportunities!

The mission of the GMNBR Community Service Committee is to plan projects and provide services suited to our industry that betters local communities. The dedication of the members of both the committee, and GMNBR at large, is ongoing with each member striving for the same goal – to improve the quality of life in the local communities in which we live and work.  See below for community volunteer opportunities.

Meals on Wheels

Kitchen Volunteers: help package the meals from 9AM to about 11AM. Some of our kitchen volunteers decide to leave at this time, while others stay for clean up and help set up for congregate dining.

Volunteer Drivers:  typically arrive at a site for 10:30 AM and deliver an average of 15 to 20 meals per day, which can take an hour to an hour and a half.   We have teams of volunteers who help out on a specific day every week, which has proven to work out well.  Email ecristaldi@sjcsinc.org for more information.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing

The bell ringing season starts each November and runs through Christmas Eve, when the red kettles are packed away for the season. Volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises about $30 per hour – enough to provide a family with two bags of groceries or shelter an individual for a night.  Email mary@gmnbr.org to find out the date GMNBR will be ringing the bell and volunteer for a time slot.
